the ups and downs of bradens... or mostly downs

Braden took a head on into a metal pole on his scooter.  after much examination we decided not to head to the ER.    Thanks to this injury though, he is very willing to wear his helmet on his scooter now.  

and this is Bradens prized pet "lizzy" .  Poor lizzy was pet, poked and squeezed for almost a week before we  had her "escape" in the night.  Braden loved her.  He would hold her and pet her while reading books or watching tv, and would shush us when she was sleeping.

really! what!!

I was soo excited to go to the grocery store by myself. I never get to go to the store on my own.  The happiness might have dropped down a notch when this is what I came home to....

What kid doesn't love a good mud pie.  And what mom likes bathtime after mud pie day. ugh.

crocs on the move

the weather has been miserably hot due to the VOG here.  (yes that is fog, from a volcano)  it is sweltering, so we have hit the beach a lot.  Thanks to our fun beach friends, it has been great.

goodbye amy and justin

some of our dearest friends since moving here... are moving!  thats what you get for having military friends. We never stay in one spot for long.  Braden and their daughter Carley have been the best of buddies and will miss each other dearly.  

Not to mention, Justin and Amy have had us over for almost every holiday for the last 3 years.  so we are totally open for the 4th of july, easter, thanksgiving, christmas.... any takers?

We had a great time throwing a goodbye BBQ for them and will sure miss them.

can't believe we are old enough

We kept thinking that our kids weren't quite old enough for mini golf.  turns out they LOVE it.  who knew!  so we will be making more trips  to the mini golf place.  Braden was so excited he almost peed his pants- he couldn't take the time to head to the potty!  

a walk in the park- hawaiian style

It has been forever since Troy had a Saturday off, so last weekend we finally had a family day and headed to the other side of the island to Waimea Bay Falls Park.  The kids had a great time.  It is only 3/4 of a mile to the Waterfall, but we managed to make it a lot farther by taking every cut off along the way. 

The kids loved these trees because they had "flower plants" growing on them.

They always love climbing through the trunks of these.  They are just too fun to hide in.

Once we finally made it to "the falls"  the kids could barely contain themselves.  

They suited up in the life jackets and jumped right in.... the the coldest water ever! it was only 60 degree water- which we really aren't used to. I about passed out!   Even though they were freezing they managed to play in the water for quite a while, until Braden was convulsing with his shaking.

Then there is nothing better than a nice warm rock to soak on... my little lizards. 

Sorry- no swimming shots- it was a little to "hands on" out there to take the camera.   We were one tired family for the hike down.  Suddenly 3/4 of a mile seemed like a million :)
