vacation

We had an amazing vacation with Brooke and Eric (and kiddos).
We are so grateful that they came to play with us. We will miss living in hawaii and
the wonderful friends we get to have here.
*and if you want to see some family pics i took for them go to

We kicked off the trip by heading to the north shore. Playing in the
waves, watching the surfers, digging holes. And of course getting shave ice. yum.

A hike to waimea bay falls. the kids were great troopers and hiked up to the waterfall
followed by a nice swim in the falls.  Thank goodness for dads who like
swimming in a freezing lake so that i don't have to!

This picture makes me giggle. Sam is looking a little big for his life jacket!
Sam- Braden - Camiron - Andrew

The kids had so much fun doing everything together!

After catching President Cooke from the Quarum of the Twelve for a mini stake conference
We relaxed and then headed to Dole Pineapple Plantation.  (just for you megs)

The pineapple fields

I just love  this tree- so i had to put it in there!

Fed the fish at the koi pond

and what is the pineapple plantation without a bite or two of their yummy icecream!

the kids were troopers and hiked up Diamond Head to check out the view.

Then we spent the afternoon at the Arizona Memorial.  the kids were old enough to get the movie and spent the whole time asking who were the good guys and who were the bad guys.  And even out on the memorial the kids were all sure the bad guys were coming.

And of course beach days.  Here are just a few pics b/c really- this has gotten a little out of control!

fireworks

Hawaiians love fireworks.  I mean spend thousands of dollars on fireworks love them
This is the first new years that we actually made it until midnight to see the fireworks go off.
(and on a sidenote- the  night before i was watching the news and had to laugh when they reminded the public that ariel fireworks are illegal- i feel the locals really took that to heart).

We kicked off the night watching fireworks at the waterpark.

Then headed to our dear friends the Ohki's for some food and fun.

The kids played-  the girls chatted- and the boys set off fireworks.

The girls chatted

(really the whole island looks like this with smoke on new years- they start setting fireworks off around 3, and it doesn't let up until after 1am)

here and gone

It comes and goes so quickly- leaving smiles behind.
We had a fabulous Christmas.  Our last in Hawaii.
I wonder if it will be white Christmas next year?
