summer kickoff= a broken arm

Cam thought she should kick off summer break with a broken arm.  it is summer "break"
after all.... ugh.  she was a real trooper.  troy had just finished his second over night call in a row and had one more to go- she was riding her scooter down our driveway first thing in the morning and fell and broke it.  We thought it was broken by the way she was acting and as all good parents do- troy went to bed for an hour.  poor guy hadn't slept yet and knew he was going to be hanging at the er all day.   so after his cat nap she was still in tears so he took her in.  she broke the humerus bone right at the elbow.  she gets a full elbow cast for 4-6 weeks.  on the upside they didn't have to sedate her to set it, and she doesn't need any surgery.   Troy spent the day with her and finally braden, emory and i had to go trade him out because he was starting his next overnighter.   She was such a trooper- the poor thing was in so much pain. i am pretty happy that troy was able to take her.  by the time i traded him out she was getting casted and the tylenol codeine was kicking in which made for a much happier girl.  it is so hard to see your kids in pain!
*these pics are terrible- but they are from my phone it was all i had!
here she is at the hospital with her first cast

a couple days later she did go to dance, but between the first cast being huge and heavy and
the tylenol codeine- she was pretty worn out.

her second cast was a cute pink- but her arm was still so swollen that she
had it cut on both sides and they wrapped an ace wrap around it.  had i known
she would only have this one for a week i would have taken another picture of it... bummer

and we rounded it out by going purple for number 3.  this one is a keeper for now.
she goes in for her 4 week check on june 20th and will hopefully get it off.  4 weeks in a cast
is forever in 100 degree humid summer weather.  and it really puts a damper on swimming!

Your kids are always getting hurt! What really is going on? Just kidding, your family doesn't have a great track record here so far. You may just want to keep your kids locked up ;)
