a little vulnerable

i took the kids to the park today. seems normal right? we left around 9:40 am, got back around 11:40 am. normal daylight hours. When i came into my yard, i immediatly noticed that my window was missing some of the panes and the screen had been cut. so I called 911 without going in- i did have the kids with me- what if someone was still in there!
so the police actually sent a chopper that went around my house a few times, and then an officer showed up and checked the house for me.
Sure enough we had been robbed. They left our big items- computer, tv, stereo... but took my wedding ring. yep it is gone along with every piece of jewelry i have ever owned except the earrings in my ears. all of our camera's including my video camera that has our footage for about the last 8 mo on it. I cried when i told the officer that. For a sentimental person, losing that is really sad. and other random items, binoculures, money etc.
I feel very violated. They pulled out most of our drawers and just dumped it all on the floor. They even took my pillow case to collect their loot. if you are going to steal my things- please come a little more prepared. That really ticked me off!

This very unfortunate, scary, frusterating, sad and yes vulnerable event was quickly followed by another event putting me in yet another panic attack.

the officer complimented me on keeping such great composure during this whole event..... if only he could have seen me when...
Braden turned the lock on the study door, then walked out. He closed the door behind him, purposely closing Camiron in the room. He didn't get that then she was locked in with no way out. So I hit total panic attack. He has never seen me freak out like that. No item I stuck in the door would unlock it. The second he closed it Camiron freaked out and starting crying and screaming, which of course makes me more panicked. I finally had to unscrew the doorknob totally taking it off the door to get the door unlocked. Although all of this took maybe 10 minutes, I felt like I had run a marathon. He stood back watching and did suggest maybe Camiron should just turn that little lock thing like he did. Great idea..... if only she could.

So now i sit here blogging my panic attack of a day all alone because yes of course...Troy is on call and does not come home tonight. Nothing like sleeping alone in a house that has just been robbed. Wish me luck.

Oh my gosh! How scary is that! In broad daylight!! You are a brave woman to be sleeping in that house too!! What a bummer that lame people robbed you. I love that the pillow case just tops it all off! Hope you guys are recovering okay from that crazy drama filled day!

Are you kidding me??? Our home was robbed when I was little and it was the scariest feeling ever! I can't imagine it happening when I am the adult and home alone! You are so brave. Sorry to hear about your wedding ring and all of your cameras. I am the same way with sentiments. I would be devastated. Hang in there- hopefully the meaningful stuff with turn up!

OH MY GOSH! I am so glad that you and the kiddos were safe. That's horrible that you lost all of the really sentimental stuff though. That's really sad! I'm so sorry! You really are brave to stay in the house the same night. I think I'd be up all night over analyzing every little noise!

Molls - I am so sorry! That stinks...and of course it had to be followed up with the lockdown!! When it rains it pours. You are a stud! Let’s pretend that the robber stole from you to feed his starving baby who has some sort of horrible illness. Although I am pretty sure it was probably just some punk. Keep your head up ;) T

If you haven't already, Make sure you talk to Jr. about a house alarm. I'm sorry you have to go through this. Maybe the guy will have a heart and send you your video memories. On the bright side... As for the ring, I guess you could always ask Troy for that 2 carat ring:) Love ya guys. Wish I could be there to help you out.

Hey Molls. That is so freaky! I'm proud of you that you were able to stay so composed about the whole thing. Time to get yourself a gun. When Eric's gone at night that's the only thing that gives me comfort is my little laser pointer 9 mm.

Molly-- I'm sooo sorry to hear your story... Shane and I were robbed while we were traveling home from Utah. Our video camera was also stolen with all of our video tapes for the past two years... that is devistating and so violating! The saddest part is they get a few hundred bucks out of it while it means the world to you! Wish I could give you a hug. XOXO, Dixie

Molly...Are you ok??? I can't believe that! I'm so sorry....I'm so glad you weren't home! I also can't believe you had to stay at home alone. I think I would have been staying at a hotel or with friends or something. I wouldn't have been brave enough to stay alone. Time to get an alarm system....or a really big dog!!

Don't you love it when siblings tease each other like that?? Carter locked Jace in my bathroom once. I couldn't get the door unlocked and actually had to call Craig to come home and he had to remove the hinges and take the door off. I'm happy to report he wasn't traumatized for life, just for an hour or two!
I hope you recover...and buy a big dog! love ya..Me

Wow Molly. I am so sorry to read this post. I hope everyone is doing all right and that the suspect is caught. Unbelievable Troy couldn't get off to be with you. You'll be in our prayers.

I am absolutely down today after reading your post. Hawaii sometimes isn't paradise and honestly only people that have lived there realize it. We had a near break in, my purse was stolen, and two of our family members got stuff ripped off while we lived out there... and that is NOTHING compared to what you have been through.

I am so glad you and the kids are OK. You are really amazing to be so brave to tough it out all alone there. You are a true military wife... tough as nails!

I hope for the safe return of your precious memories and other important things that were taken.

that is horrible! what a terrible feeling. not to mention your ring and the missing video! that would kill me. on a lighter note..in regards to your pillow case...something similar happened to us. About a month ago someone broke into our car at our apartment. They left the ipod charger but took Jeremy's $100 glasses and the change in the drawer. Well the glasses were about 6 years old so he has gotten his money out of them. The money in the drawer was mostly pennies. So jokes on them. The thing that pissed Jeremy off was that they took the drawer with them. So now we have a hole in our dashboard. He was like "fine, take the money but dump it out and leave the drawer!"

Oh noooooo! Molly that SUCKS! I have to assume you made it through the night ok - did you sleep? Time for a security system or a dog, huh? Maybe you should get that Dog the Bounty Hunter on your case - he's local right? I'm glad you guys weren't home. I can't imagine how yucky you must feel right now.

On a selfish note, Richy is on call tonight and after reading this I may be up all night shoving furniture against doors. Sigh.

My heart breaks for you! Nothing like knowing some stranger knows every item in your house and has looked at everything. And I to top it all off you were alone, so sorry.

This sounds like a nightmare. I am so sorry Molly. It sounds like you did all the right things though.
Once we had someone break into out shed and it was 3am and I was home alone watching the whole thing from inside. I must have been half asleep because I actually walked outside and told the person to please come out of the shed. Matt still makes fun of the please. Anyhow the person ran but the police were so mad that I actually went outside. Looking back I guess its the worst thing I could have done. Anyhow I know that violated feeling and I am sorry that you had to go through that.

Molls! Sorry I'm so late in catching up. I'm sorry that this happened to you. What a nightmare. I'm glad that everyone was safe. How scary. Hope you are doing well! Love you!

Hey Molly, sorry to hear about the break-in! Scary! When we moved from Hawaii, my laptop was stolen by the movers & it had the last couple of years of journals on it (meeting/dating justin, having first baby, etc) All those things you just can't get back. Its so maddening. And if it makes you feel any better, Logan locked me out of the house twice last week. Glad you are all well!

oh my gosh molly! how totally scary and you are so brave to have slept in your house that night. the worst is that they took your camera's ... is it really necessary to take the memory cards? glad you survived the eventful day!
